I’m happy to be getting back into life after a wee blip overcoming pesky virus.
It’s  a grand opportunity to get right back to basics of deep self-care.
As soon as I woke up in the morning I placed my hand to my heart and said out loud in the sweetest loving voice I could – ‘It’s ok wee darling. I love you we’ve got this’.
Sounds cheesy?
Ah you are new to Joyworks.
Stay with me for a moment.
Of course not?
Thanks for continuing to support myself and the Joyworks mission!
Putting our hand on our heart is a simple, instant but profound way to bring ourselves joy.
Here’s the top four ways it can help us – based on scientific research.
1. Reduced stress response: activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which can help to counteract the “fight or flight” response of the sympathetic nervous system. This can lead to a reduction in stress hormones like cortisol and an increase in feelings of calm and relaxation.
2. Lowered heart rate: When you place your hand on your heart, it can help to slow down your breathing and heart rate, which can have a beneficial effect on your cardiovascular system.

3. Improved immune function: Research has shown that positive emotions like compassion and kindness can boost the immune system, potentially reducing inflammation and promoting healing.
4. Increased feelings of connection: Touch, particularly touch to the chest area, has been shown to increase feelings of social connection and closeness to others. This can help to promote positive emotions and reduce feelings of loneliness.
Next time you feel overwhelmed , low or stressed pop your hands to your heart and talk kindly to yourself.
Make it a practise.
Just ask yourself how many times you talk down to yourself.
How our bodies love to hear sweet words.
How our nervous system regulates when we feel safe, content and at peace.
For oodles more of these tips and techniques in a transformational programme to change the way you talk to yourself for good. Check out Joyworks for Self-Compassion here. We now begin on May 9th
Have a beautiful day !
